Movie Review on Imtiaz Ali's "TAMASHA"

Awesome movie!!! Will be loved by those who don't love bollywood typical movies.

'Tamasha' is an irregular love story with great drama, as well. As it was said it's daringly different and leaves a solid mark. The way Imtiaz Ali presents the story in the form of musical narrative and the manner in which lead protagonists, Ranbir and Deepika mark their presence is truly commendable. I was engrossed by the world of "Tamasha".

My favourite still from the movie.

'Tamasha' showcases undeniable talents of Ranbir and Deepika. Ranbir kapoor was brilliant in his act. He displays all the emotions, without missing a single beat. This is his best and undoubtfully an award-worthy performance in years. Deepika supports Ranbir wonderfully. She acted brilliantly as always. And an onscreen chemistry between the two, is simply wow! Imtiaz's direction and screenplay is top notch. Despite of few shaky moments, writing picks up tremendously. Cinematography is extraordinary. And, all the locations are captured brilliantly. Editing is finely done, although the first hour could have been tighter. A.R Rehman's score is wonderful, and you'll definetely fall in love with the soundtrack if you have not already.
An another awesome still from the movie.

'Tamasha' has shaky beginning and  intial 20 minutes are awkward. Also the narrative is non-linear & not all will be able to adapt and absorb  the preceedings properly. It will test your patience oftenly. But, once you get attached with the story and its characters, you will find yourself in the movie and you'll definetly gonna love every bit of it. You might get few clichès, and there are few complex scenes in this movie, but on a different note there are many scenes and sequences which might stay with you for a long time.

Well, I'am not very shocked seeing negetive or mixed reviews on such an extravagent cinema, as it mostly happens with many such movies nowadays.

On the whole, 'Tamasha' is about finding yourself. It's about making your dream your life. I'll give it 7/10 after considering some public's and critic's opinions, but if asked personally I'll undoubtly rate it 9/10, as it's a heavy film, but a deeply affecting one. Strongly recommended.
"Fenka naya paasa
Phir de gayi jhansa
Aivein mujhe phansa
Teri aisi ki ho taisi zindagi" ;)
(This still makes me remember this amazing phrase from the most amazing song of this film "Matarghasti")

Movie Review on Sam Mendes's "SPECTRE"

"SPECTRE"- A thrilling bond spectacle. Spectacular, but occasionally flawed.

Casino Royale and Skyfall are my two favourite Bond movies. Following the magnificent Skyfall, Spectre had some huge expectations to fill, and for the most part, it delivers exactly what you'd want. It has every element that a bond fan will love to see in the movie. It's almost a classic for the bond series. Lacks of a strong storyline and plot was not as twisted as it should be. And the movie was somewhat predictable.

Spectre solves the mysteries of the previous Bond movies in a good-way and it establishes Daniel Craig  forever as a completely different Bond. Bond girl Léa Seydoux did really well. Romantic chemistry between Mr. Bond and and Ms. Swan is quite intresting. Casting in the movie is at its best. Christopher Waltz and Dave Bautista are the two most perfect actors to play villians ever. Director Sam Mendes did a wonderful job again after Skyfall. The film was long but pacing was good. It's always changing places from one stunning location to another.
Star cast of the movie.

Spectre is not a masterpiece many people seem to have expected but there is lot to enjoy here. It's a solid film with insane action sequences, fantastic cast, enjoyable humor, great set-pieces, breathtaking cars and incredible locations. It's less boring as compared to previous Bond movies. You will definetely enjoy the movie and all its action sequences.
An action still from the movie.

According to me, Spectre was not perfect. But it surpasses skyfall in some terms but failed to match the class of Casino Royale. I'd rate it 8 stars out of 10. Spectre was just another chapter in the immense story of everbody's favourite spy 'Bond'- "James Bond".

Movie Review on Ridley Scott's "THE MARTIAN"

"The Martian" is a ultimate tale of survival with science, stunning visuals, humor and above all Matt Damon. It's an incredibly smart and entertaining twist on space exploration movie as we know it.

Yet another space exploration movie? After the hits like 2013's Gravity and last year's Interstellar(which is my all time favourite) what's new that this movie will offer? This movie is way different and surprisingly, significantly better and more entertaining than those films. The one thing which lifts this movie higher, makes it more entertaining and different from those movies is 'humor'.

Matt Damon was hilarious as he plays Mark Watney in the movie, who is a part of manned mission to mars and during emergency evacuation he fails to make it to the space shuttle. Everyone thought he died but ofcourse, he wakes up covered in mars dust, alone on the planet. This plot would generally lead to boring and depressing drama. Instead The Martian is a hilarious black comedy. Matt Damon gave Oscar-Worthy performance. Jeff Danials was a delight. All the supporting cast, everyone involved, did a great work as well.

A brilliant quote from the movie.

The quotes in the movie are just hilarious and some are brilliant. The visual effects are stunning. The landscape of mars is absolutely breathtaking. The 3D effects are also quite good. The Martian is adopted by a novel by same name by Andy Weir. And all the credits for science and humar goes to him only. The direction by well-known director Ridley Scott is impressive in every way as he adapted the film brilliantly. He didn't missed or changed anything. He narrated the story beautifully. Many times it felt like it's an exceptionally made biopic, and I belived that Mark Watney was real and was actually staranded on mars.

The Martian scores full and matches the standard of Christopher Nolan's mind-boggling Interstellar but fails in terms of emotions and amazement but its better than Gravity in everyway.

As far as rating is concerned i will give it 9/10.  It's a very funny movie with big sci-fi spectacle, thrilling visuals and also a couple of life lessons. What more could you possibly ask for? I loved this film and I will go as far as to say that this is my film of the year so far. Its definetly a must watch for all. Don't miss this movie.

"FEAR" isn't an option.
(A quote from the movie or we can even say it as a life lesson.)

Movie Review on Abbas-Mustan's "KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON"

Kis kisko pyaar karoon is a laugh riot with an emotional climax.

The film marks a debut of comedy king kapil sharma. The story is entertaining and gives a lot of scope for comedy but still it is a predictable movie. Abbas-Mustan, the director duo first time tried their hands on a full-fledged comedy flick and made it as one of the best comedy film of 2015. This is exactly what you will expect from kapil's first movie. The rib-tickling dialogues are the best thing about the movie.

Kapil sharma is totally in his element. He wows with his performance, comic timing, and thus brings a smile. He has made a good debut. All the actresses in movie acts well whereas Eli Avram also adds a glam value to the film. Arbaaz khan did a small yet impressive and funny act. Varun sharma does what he is famous for. The movie is well directed and editing is sharp. Another good thing in the movie which take this movie higher is its believable yet emotional climax.

Though many will compare kapil's performance and his movie with his TV show but one must understand that this is a film and it shouldn't be compared. Its a decent and funny movie but feels like you are watching a TV serial.

I will rate this movie 7/10. Watch it for kapil sharma and if you like situational comedy. This movie will not disappoint you. Watch it for sure.

Movie Review on Baltasar Kormakur's "EVEREST"

Majestic!!! Everest is an inspiring movie and as spellbinding as Mount Everest itself. Great theatre experience.

Baltasar kormakur's disaster movie 'Everest' is a physical experience that will leave you breathless and possibly suffering vertigo. Just the fact that Everest is the world's highest peek requires us to respect it from afar. This movie has accomplished it as it respects the story, it respects the nature and it respects the memories of lives lost during 1996 tragic expedition. I thought it to be an action film, but it feels like an documentry and that's good.

Everest has chalk full of star power- Jason clarke, Josh brolin, Keira knightley, Jake gyllenhaal, Sam worthington, the list goes on. Everyone is believable in this hostile environment. And everyone really did well. Each character is given a back story, you will get attached to most of them but not all of them.

Everest movie's star cast

The visuals are, as you might have guessed, stunning and eye-popping. The visual techniques will make you feel that camera actually went up there at 29,029 feet. In this movie camera appears to glide just above the highest ridge of Everest, the snow storm and ice feels just as terrifying and mysterious as the vast outer space itself. Cinematography in the movie is award worthy.

At times, the pace is bit slower than expected and the tones shifted from serious to light hearted. But that will not bother you as you will just be wrapped in the intensity of the story and visuals.

Everest movie does make me wonder why anyone would want to climb mount everest by challenging nature, but it's basically the same as asking ourselves why we do certain things, why we choose to attempt to conquer certain goals, whatever they may be whether its the need to inspire or be inspired, whether its trying to escape our problems, whether its the love to climb, Everest goes to show that it could be both prideful and humbling.
A still from the movie.

Overall this film really did it for me because I have always been fascinated by Mount Everest and Mountaineering. Everest gave me exactly what I wanted. It was intense, emotionally powerful, and visually beautiful. As far as rating is concerned, I'm giving it 8.5/10. Definetly worth a trip to theatre.

Rarely any movie inspires me but this one did. It has many quotes that left their mark on me. Soon I will look forward for mountaineering and even for Everest. ;)
We should never let go of something that really matters a lot in our life.

Movie Review on Sriram Raghvan's "BADLAPUR"

It feels really good when a movie matches your expectations and surprises you by its unusual climax.

Badlapur is a complete revenge thriller with a simple story. We have already watched many revenge stories earlier like Gajni, Force etc..so why watch this? Its definitely different from those movies which came earlier. As this movie is more practical and realistic than those movies. Sriram raghavan did a brilliant direction and creates this movie as a masterpiece in the genre of revenge drama.

Its a story of Raghu(Varun) whose wife(Yami) and son got killed by two thieves(Nawazuddin and vinay pathak). He wants to take his revenge but gets his chance after 15 years. So, its storyline is simple. But the thing which makes it special is its Screenplay. As it makes this movie unpredictable and gripping and it never lets you down till the end. The movie is so engaging that you don't even want to blink. Although it is a revenge drama with the full dose of thrills but also offers you the quirky comedy which certainly makes you laugh at most places.

I must admit that this movie is brilliantly casted as the whole cast gave a powerful  performances. Varun dhawan did a great job and gave the best performance of his career. Nawazuddin siddique lifts this movie higher as he played his role brilliantly and steals the show. He is like a biggest jewel of the crown in this movie. Rest of the cast did great too.

There are some things which some people may don't like in this movie. As there are lots of violent and sexually vulgar scenes in the movie. The plot of the movie could have been better and more touching. And there are also some questions left unanswered in this movie.

As a conclusion i personally admired the work of sriram raghavan. I count this movie as one of the finest movies of our time because of its surprising and unpredictable end. As in the end it has a message for people who thinks revenge is the best way of justice. The special and surprising thing in this movie is that in the end the hero will not be a hero and villain will not be a villain. :p

I'll give this movie 8.5/10. Its definitely a must watch for all as this movie will definitely leave its mark on you.

DON'T MISS THE BEGINNING AS WELL AS ITS END... :)

Movie Review on James Wan's "FURIOUS 7"

One last ride. This one's for Paul Walker.

There are some movies whom you wants to see again and again coz u just loved every bit of it. Furious 7 is one of them. I watched first day, first show of this movie. It started with a bang and ended with a bang, and in a way that it would have crumbled even the hearts of steel. Furious 7 has everything that one might expect from this franchise's last movie. There are awe-inspiring stunts, fantastic humor, electrifying dialogues, and a menacing addition- Jason Statham.

The script is perfectly done, while the action sequences leave you stunned and spell bound. James wan direction is high octane. As he took this movie to a whole another level in the terms of action. Chris Morgan's screenplay is fast-paced. Cinematography captures all the maddening action, perfectly. Editing in the movie is razor-sharp. Musical score is just awesome and fast-paced and it adds an extra thrill to the action sequences.

The late/great Paul Walker is the emotional strength of Furious 7. He gives this film immense power through his presence. A beautiful and emotional tribute is given to him in the final moments of the film that will definitely make you cry(if u have watched the whole series and u r a fan of Paul walker). Vin Diesel gave a tough and powerful performance, as ever. Dwayne Johnson surprisingly is reduced into the cameo here. But he was brilliant. Mitchell Rodriguez was efficient and did well. Tyrese Gibson and ludicrous brings the house down as both were hilarious and awesome. Jason Statham as an antagonist plays it straight. Ali fazal leaves a mark and did a great job. Rest of the cast also did really well.

As a conclusion I personally loved every bit of this movie. It delivers all fronts that we expect from a blockbuster, it has impressive visuals, action-packed scenarios, well executed humor, thrills and drama. Undoubtedly the whole film is awesome but towards the end the film began to feel unnaturally forced but at last it ends well. Its an emotional and visual roller-coaster ride that one should not miss.

I'll give this unforgettable movie 9/10. This is the most enthralling and thrilling furious movie to date. It will live on in fans heart forever. Do what ever you want to do, but don't miss this one. For Paul... May your soul rest in peace.
